Player grades: Oilers drop second straight game as Boldy's two goals lead Wild to win

Oilers drop second straight game as Boldy's two goals lead Wild to win

The Minnesota Wild weathered the Edmonton Oilers' third period onslaught on Friday.

Matt Boldy scored a pair of goals as Minnesota came away with a 4-2 victory over the Oilers, despite getting outshot 24-7 in the final frame.

"We needed to get the job done and play well and I thought we played well tonight," said Boldy. "There was a little bit of a lull in the second period, but you expect that against a team like this and the guys that they have.

"It was a whole team effort, it was nice."

Jonas Brodin and Mats Zuccarello also scored for the Wild (27-24-6), who have gone 6-1-1 in their last eight games.

“I liked the start of the game, I thought we played the way we wanted to play,” said Minnesota head coach John Hynes. “I thought in the second half of the second period we got away from it a little bit.

"I thought they were better in the third period than we were, but we found a way to put the puck in the net at key times and we got some key saves."

Filip Gustavsson made 41 saves for the win.

Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman responded for the Oilers (33-18-2), who have lost two in a row, but are nonetheless 28-7-1 in their last 36 games.

Edmonton outshot the Wild 43-20 in the game.

“Our group has just had little lulls, whether it is in the start or in the second and those can’t happen, obviously,” said McDavid, who was credited with hitting three posts in the game, the most of any player in a single game this season. “If you want to be a good team, you have to play all three periods. We haven’t done that in a bit here.”

It appeared as if the Wild had taken a 1-0 lead early in the game on a snipe by Joel Eriksson Ek, but the goal was quickly deemed to have been as the result of being offside and was negated by a video review.

Minnesota started the scoring for real with just 23 seconds to play in the first when Boldy cut into the middle and unleashed a wrist shot that ticked off of the glove of Oilers goalie Calvin Pickard and in for his 21st of the season. Eriksson Ek picked up an assist to extend his points streak to seven games.

Edmonton evened up the contest with a power-play marker midway through the second period as McDavid sent a backhand pass to Draisaitl and he beat Gustavsson short side with his patented one-timer from the right wing for his 28th of the season.

McDavid extended his home-game point streak to 21 games, tying his personal best such streak set last year.

The Oilers came close to getting another one six minutes later when Mattias Ekholm flipped a puck from behind the goal-line that snuck behind Gustavsson and sat in the crease, but Declan Chisholm put it into his goalie's pads after almost poking it in himself.

The Wild retook the lead 9:31 into the third period as Brodin stepped in from the point and blasted a shot past Pickard for his fifth of the season. Kirill Kaprizov extended his points streak to seven games with an assist.

Minnesota went up by a pair 12:17 into the third as Edmonton coughed up the puck and Boldy showed off his deft hands to score his second of the game.

Edmonton got one back with another power play goals coming with five minutes to play as a rebound pinballed around in front before coming to Hyman at the side of the net for his team-leading 35th goal of the campaign.

The Wild put the game away on an empty-net goal by Zuccarello.

“I thought we did a lot of good things, but one thing we didn’t do well was finish,” said Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch. “There were a lot of pucks that either hit goalposts or trickled wide or were lying around the crease. Sometimes those go in and some nights they don’t. Tonight we were unfortunate in that area.”

NOTES

It was the third and final meeting of the season between the two clubs. Each team had previously won on home ice … Draisaitl collected his 284th career power-play point, moving him past Mark Messier for sole possession of third place in franchise history … In addition to long-term injuries to Marcus Foligno, Pat Maroon and Jared Spurgeon, the Wild were also missing Zach Bogosian (upper body) … Jon Merrill subbed in to take Bogosian’s place on the blue line … The Oilers were healthy, with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins returning after missing the previous game with an illness … It was the start of a hectic stretch of 29 games in 55 days for the Oilers, including seven back-to-backs.

UP NEXT

Wild: Complete a three-game road trip against the Kraken in Seattle on Saturday.

Oilers: Play the third game of a five-game homestand on Saturday against the rival Calgary Flames.

Soccer star Dani Alves is found guilty of rape and sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison

BARCELONA, Spain — Dani Alves, one of the most successful soccer players of his generation, was found guilty of raping a woman in a Barcelona nightclub and sentenced to four years and six months in prison on Thursday.

The former Brazil and Barcelona right back was convicted in Spain under a new sexual liberty law that emphasizes the lack of consent of the victim as key to determining sex crimes.

A three-judge panel at the Barcelona Provincial Court convicted the 40-year-old Alves of sexual assault for the incident on Dec. 31, 2022.

The court ordered Alves to pay 150,000 euros ($162,000) in compensation to the victim, banned him from approaching the victim's home or place of work, and from communicating with her by any means for nine years.

"I still believe in the innocence of Mr. Alves," Inés Guardiola, Alves' lawyer, said. "I need to study the ruling, but I can tell you that of course we will appeal."

Guardiola said Alves was "calm and collected" when he heard the verdict in court.

"We are satisfied," David Sáenz, a member of the victim's legal team, said, "because this verdict recognizes what we have always known, that the victim told the truth and that she has suffered."

The victim's lawyer, Ester García, said on Wednesday she and her client would not be present for the verdict.

The victim said Alves raped her in the bathroom of a Barcelona nightclub on the morning of Dec. 31, 2022. The court considered it proven that the victim did not consent to sex and there was evidence, in addition to the defendant's testimony, that she was raped.

Alves testified: "I am not that kind of man"

Alves denied during the three-day trial this month that he raped the woman, testifying to the court "I am not that kind of man."

State prosecutors had sought a nine-year prison sentence for Alves while the lawyers representing his accuser wanted 12 years. His defense asked for his acquittal, or if found guilty a one-year sentence plus 50,000 euros compensation for the victim.

The sentence of four years and six months is near the lowest sentence for a rape conviction, which when the rape took place was penalized by four to 12 years under Spanish law. That has since been modified to six to 12 years. The court in its sentence said it considered favorably for Alves that he had "before the trial paid the court 150,000 euros to be given to the victim without any conditions attached."

Sáenz said his legal team did not agree with the application of the extenuating circumstance, saying the money did not compensate the harm done to their client. During the trial, medical experts testified she was suffering from post-traumatic trauma.

"Clearly (it does not compensate), but that is what the court decided," Sáenz said. "We have to examine the sentence to see if its contents are adequate for his acts."

The state prosecutor's office said it will study the verdict and consider whether to appeal.

Spain Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Díaz said she hoped the verdict "serves as an exemplary measure for all the sexist behaviors that women suffer in all areas of our lives."

The case follows adoption of Spain's "only yes means yes" law

The Alves case was the first high-profile sex crime since Spain overhauled its legislation in 2022 to make consent central to defining a sex crime in response to an upswell of protests after a gang-rape case during the San Fermin bull-running festival in Pamplona in 2016.

The legislation popularly known as the "only yes means yes" law defines consent as an explicit expression of a person's will, making it clear that silence or passivity do not equal consent. The law, however, initially led to reduced sentences for hundreds of sex offenders because it set up lower minimum sentences, like the one applied to Alves, before being reformed.

Irene Montero, the former equality minister who championed the "only yes means yes" law, welcomed the ruling.

"The sentence against Dani Alves clearly establishes that he committed sexual assault because the victim did not consent. It is the result of the feminist fight for the right to sexual freedom and for putting consent at the center," she wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Guardiola based her defense during the trial on video from the nightclub security cameras that she said showed how the woman danced "with sexualized movements" that "showed her interest" in Alves before the alleged assault.

García, the victim's lawyer, said at the close of the trial that the new law made it irrelevant how her client may have behaved with Alves beforehand.

"I don't care (how she was dancing), when she said 'No', that meant 'No.' That is why the law was changed," García said. "The debate is no longer whether the victim put up resistance."

Alves has been in jail since being detained on Jan. 20, 2023. His requests for bail were denied because the court considered him a flight risk. Brazil does not extradite its own citizens when they are sentenced in other countries.

The victim told state prosecutors she danced with Alves and willingly entered the nightclub bathroom, but that later when she wanted to leave he would not let her. She said he slapped her, insulted her and forced her to have sexual relations against her will.

A police officer who testified during the trial said the victim had to overcome her fears that "nobody would believe her" before she formally accused Alves. Another officer said the woman told him "I don't want money, I want justice."

Alves modified his defense during the investigative phase while in custody, first denying any sexual contact with her before admitting to sexual relations that he said were consensual. He said he had been trying to save his marriage by not admitting to the encounter initially.

During the trial, his defense focused on trying to show that Alves was drunk when he met the woman. The court, however, did not consider that an extenuating circumstance in its ruling.

His conviction shatters Alves' legacy as one of soccer's most successful players.

Alves won dozens of titles with elite clubs including Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. He also helped Brazil win two Copa Americas and an Olympic gold medal at age 38. He played at his third World Cup, the only major title he hasn't won, in 2022. He played for Barcelona from 2008-16, helping to win three Champions Leagues and six Spanish leagues, and briefly rejoined the club in 2022. He still has a residence near the city.

He was with Mexican club Pumas when he was arrested. Pumas terminated his contract immediately.

Three days after his arrest, Alves was transferred by officials for safety reasons to the Brians 2 prison about 45 minutes northwest of Barcelona. He has been there ever since.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2024: Becky Lynch Winning And 5 Smart Booking Decisions

WWE Elimination Chamber 2024 may only have five announced matches, but the blockbuster card is the pivotal final stop on the road to WrestleMania 40.

Last year’s record-breaking Elimination Chamber event helped advance numerous WrestleMania storylines, establishing Asuka as the No. 1 contender for the Raw Women’s Championship and building toward Sami Zayn’s big tag team match alongside Kevin Owens. This year’s show should be no different.

Two of the most star-studded Elimination Chamber matches ever will determine Seth Rollins’ World Heavyweight title challenger as well as Rhea Ripley’s No. 1 contender. In addtion, Ripley will defend her Women’s World Championship in her home country in a highly anticipated match against Nia Jax while both Rollins and Cody Rhodes will appear on the Grayson Waller Effect talk show.

With a plethora of major moments potentially set to take place in Perth, Ausralia, WWE would be wise to make these five booking decisions at Elimination Chamber 2024.

The Judgment Day Retain The WWE Tag Team Titles

Finn Balor and Damian Priest of The Judgment Day will defend the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship against the new duo of Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne, known collectively as the New Catch Republic.

Yet, this short-lived rivalry is clearly playing second fiddle to a surprisingly intriguing tag team feud that has carried Raw for weeks now. Of course, that would be Judgment Day vs. the reunited duo of The Miz and R-Truth, whose comedic greatness has resulted in a shockingly compelling angle.

Now, despite all of the great tag teams in WWE, the hottest one is Awesome Truth, which has gotten over big time as babyfaces thanks in large part to Truth’s hilarious quest to join Judgment Day. There is, as a result, only one place for Awesome Truth vs. Judgment Day to hit its climax, and that’s at WrestleMania 40.

So, to get there, Judgment Day needs to defeat New Catch Republic at Elimination Chamber in rather resounding fashion.

Both Ripley and Jax were actually born in Australia, making this Women’s World Championship bout a great choice to headline Elimination Chamber.

Ripley has been tremendous over the past couple of years while Jax is easily the best she’s ever been as a character and overall performer. With Ripley seemingly in the early stages of a gradual babyface turn and defending the title as the hometown hero, Elimination Chamber should end with—or at least feature—the unforgettable moment of Ripley hitting her Riptide finisher on Jax much to the delight of the Australian crowd.

WWE’s creative team has done a masterful job of building up this rivalry on Raw, and it’s only fitting that Ripley gets one of the biggest moments of her career by beating the seemingly unbeatable Jax. Doing so in Australia will only make it sweeter for “Mami.”

Although Drew McIntyre’s WWE deal has been extended beyond WrestleMania 40, he has reportedly not reached a new contract with WWE and could be gone from the company sooner rather than later.

But that doesn’t change the reality that McIntyre is doing the best work of his career and is therefore the best candidate to win the men’s Elimination Chamber match and challenge Rollins at WrestleMania 40. Although this match is jampacked with top stars—McIntyre, Randy Orton, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens, LA Knight and Logan Paul—it appears on the surface that only McIntyre or Orton has a realistic shot at winning it.

Orton, Rollins’ preferred choice for his opponent, would be a solid choice given how popular he is, but in terms of Orton vs. Rollins at WrestleMania, this is a case of been there, done that. This new heel version of McIntyre, however, has added so much intrigue to a potential Rollins vs. McIntyre bout, especially with McIntyre in the midst of his greatest WWE heel run ever.

If WWE wants to book the most logical outcome, McIntyre winning is a no-brainer, regardless of his contract situation.

Logan Paul Eliminates LA Knight

With neither Logan Paul nor LA Knight seeming to have much of a chance in the men’s Chamber match, this gives WWE the perfect opportunity to begin their journey to a WrestleMania bout—against one another.

In fact, Paul vs. Knight has reportedly been considered for WrestleMania 40, and at this point, it should be the top choice for both stars. Given that the vast majority of WWE’s other’s top stars have a clear path to WrestleMania, it’s time for Knight and Paul to have one as well.

In the ideal situation, Knight will be the one to dethrone the part-time Paul at WrestleMania 40, but he must face some adversity to get there. The easiest way to ignite a red hot feud between the two is for Knight, a dastardly heel, to eliminate Paul from the men’s Chamber match.

That’s pro wrestling booking 101.

The only Women’s World title match that has been teased for Ripley at WrestleMania 40 is a colossal showdown against Becky Lynch, and that’s likely been by design.

WWE kept Ripley and Lynch, its top two female stars on Raw, away from each other for close to a year, which is difficult to do. Over the past couple of months, however, they’ve had two major segments with one another, both of which have not-so-subtly suggested that Lynch winning is a virtual shoo-in.

Given that Lynch’s contract status is eerily similar to that of McIntyre, perhaps this is all just a red herring to give someone like Liv Morgan or even Bianca Belair the victory and main event match at WrestleMania 40. But Lynch vs. Ripley is the match with the most buzz surrounding it and the most star power involved.

The heavy betting favorite, Lynch should win the women’s Elimination Chamber match, and any other outcome would be a missed opportunity—not to mention an upset for the ages.

City secure late win over Brentford to make PL title race ever tighter

20 February 0
Manchester City moved to within one point of Premier League leaders Liverpool with a 1-0 home victory over Brentford on Tuesday, but Brentford made them scrap and claw for every last one of the three points.

With all three sides now level on 25 games played, the top of the PL table reads as follows: Liverpool (57), Manchester City (56), Arsenal (55). Two points separate three teams, with Man City still to play both Liverpool (away - March 10) and Arsenal (home - March 31).

Sometimes the opening goal comes early and the floodgates open, and sometimes you have to wait, and wait, and wait. Tuesday’s game was an example of the latter as Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken made 10 saves in a nearly man-of-the-match performance. Manchester City were inches from breaking the deadlock in the 36th minute, as they piled one wave after wave of pressure. Pep Guardiola’s side took seven shots in seven minutes (1.18 xG combined), beginning in the 30th, including the first half’s best chance at the tail end.

After Brentford halfway cleared a cross, the ball fell to Oscar Bobb on the left side of the penalty area. Bobb cleverly faked the shot and glided past the out-rushing Christian Norgaard, creating a narrow shooting lane with three defenders and Flekken blocking the way. Bobb finally beat Flekken and the other three Bees on the scene, but a fifth, Ben Mee, snuck in behind the action and booted the ball away just before it crossed the line.

For all of the well-worked chances (25 shots, 11 on target), it would be the simplest, most elementary of them all that finally put the three-time defending Premier League champions ahead. Julian Alvarez played a seemingly innocuous through ball to Haaland, with Kristoffer Ajer on the scene and closing in quickly — until he slipped, and suddenly there was nothing but 50 yards of wide open, green grass in front of him. Haaland raced in on goal and slotted his left-footed finish under Flekken from just outside the box.

Haaland briefly thought he had his second goal of the game in the 80th minute, as he headed the ball into an empty net from near the goal line. However, video review revealed that Kyle Walker had strayed inches offside as the first of two brilliant balls diced the defense and teed Haaland up.

Pep Guardiola expects three-horse race for Premier League title to go the distance
“It was difficult and always will be against Thomas [Frank]. We made a good first half, the second was not so good. We were patient and we didn’t concede much.
What’s next?

Manchester City will continue their quest for a fourth straight title on Saturday (12:30 pm ET), when they visit Bournemouth. Brentford will have nearly a full week to prepare for West Ham away next Monday (3 pm ET).

Damian Lillard named MVP of 2024 NBA All-Star Game

18 February 0

The Milwaukee Bucks' Damian Lillard was named the Kobe Bryant All-Star Game MVP on Sunday after scoring 39 points with 11 3-pointers to lead the Eastern Conference to a 211-186 win over the West.

He joined Michael Jordan in 1988 as the only other player in league history to win a Saturday night event and be named MVP in the same All-Star Weekend.

Lillard won the 3-point contest, edging the Minnesota Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns and the Atlanta Hawks' Trae Young in the final round. Jordan won the dunk contest in 1988.

"Anytime you're mentioned in the same category as Mike, it's an honor and a major accomplishment," Lillard said. "Even if it's All-Star Weekend, because if it was that simple, more people would've done it since 1988, so that's a major accomplishment for me to be mentioned in the same conversation as far as that.

"I did come into the weekend -- I knew I was doing the 3-point, and I came to win. I didn't come to be casual and be cool about it ... I'm gonna come into the All-Star Game, my first start, I'm gonna be on the floor a lot, and I'm a vet in this game at this point, so why not try to go get an MVP since I've been here enough. ... I would just say it was just something that I put my mind on, and that's what my intentions were this weekend, and I was able to do it."

Lillard, in his first season with the Bucks, became the fifth player to win All-Star Game MVP in his first season with a new team, excluding rookies.

He also became the 20th player to win All-Star MVP while playing for his coach during that season; Milwaukee's Doc Rivers coached the East team, which put up the most points in the game's 73-year history. The previous mark: 196 by the West in 2016.

Lillard said the East wanted the record.

"I saw a couple go in and after that it was just like, 'I'm going after it.' That was it."

Damian Lillard

"Everybody was asking what the record was," Lillard said. "We found out and went after it."

And Lillard ended it in style -- a 44-footer to close the scoring.

The Phoenix Suns' Kevin Durant said he was watching Lillard from the West bench while sitting with the LA Clippers' Kawhi Leonard. "We were in awe," Durant said.

"You just gotta keep shooting the ball. In a game like this, you know it's gonna be pretty loose, you gonna get your opportunities," Lillard said. "Being in the starting lineup, I knew I'd play longer stretches, get more minutes, and I just told myself I'm gonna be aggressive and I'm gonna keep firing.

"I saw a couple go in and after that it was just like, 'I'm going after it.' That was it."

The Boston Celtics' Jaylen Brown had 36 points for the East, while Tyrese Haliburton from the hometown Indiana Pacers finished with 32. Lillard's MVP announcement was met with boos from the Indianapolis crowd, who wanted to see Haliburton take home the trophy.

"I was just going to keep shooting until I missed ... just having fun, playing basketball," Haliburton said. "I didn't know how many minutes I was going to play, didn't know how my leg would feel, but I felt good today, even after the one-legged dunk, so that's positive for me.

"It wasn't high intensity at all, but it feels good that I felt good and hopefully I can continue that moving forward."

Towns scored 50 points for the West in just 28 minutes. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder scored 31 points for the West.

Bayern Munich falls to Bochum for third consecutive loss

18 February 0

BERLIN (AP) — Bayern Munich slumped to its third consecutive defeat on Sunday as Bochum came from behind to defeat the 11-time defending champion 3-2 in the Bundesliga.

It left Thomas Tuchel’s team eight points behind league leader Bayer Leverkusen with 12 rounds remaining and will increase doubts over the Bayern coach’s future after a midweek loss to Lazio in the Champions League and last weekend’s 3-0 defeat at Leverkusen.

“It feels like a horror film that just doesn't end,” Bayern midfielder Leon Goretzka said. “Everything is going against us at the moment.”

Not even fans’ protests against an outside Bundesliga investor – which continued Sunday with remote-controlled model airplanes flown onto the field during Eintracht Frankfurt’s 3-3 draw with Freiburg and tennis balls interrupting Bayern's game – will give Tuchel respite from the scrutiny that is sure to follow.

“Today was a bit like Murphy's Law. Anything that could go against us, anything that could go wrong, went wrong,” said Tuchel, who must now prepare for Leipzig's visit next weekend.

Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said Tuchel will “of course” be in charge for that match, but didn't rule out making a change at a later stage.

Sunday's games were just the latest subjected to delays and interruptions as supporters showed their opposition to the German soccer league’s controversial plan to sell a stake in the Bundesliga’s media rights income to an outside investor.

They started after Jamal Musiala fired Bayern into an early lead.

Bochum fans threw tennis balls onto the field forcing an early halt to play. As soon as they were cleared, Bayern supporters flung more from their section, leading referee Daniel Schlager to tell both teams to return to their locker rooms. The fans also chanted against the German soccer league (DFL) with an expletive.

Bochum coach Thomas Letsch used the unplanned break to good effect as he held earnest talks with his players, and the game resumed some 13 minutes later.

“Of course you can use it to make a few corrections. That’s the positive,” Letsch said of the protests.

Takuma Asano equalized in the 38th after playing a one-two with Anthony Losilla, and Keven Schlotterbeck put the home side in front with a header to a corner before the break.

More tennis balls followed in the second half, and Bayern’s struggles continued when the game resumed. Tuchel sent on Leroy Sané and new signing Bryan Zaragoza for the last half hour.

But while Letsch remained on the sideline to urge on his team, Tuchel remained withdrawn on his bench.

It got worse for Bayern when Dayot Upamecano was penalized for a high arm against Schlotterbeck in the 76th. The French defender was shown his second yellow card and Kevin Stöger duly scored from the spot.

Bochum ’keeper Manuel Riemann made a fine save to deny Sané before fellow substitute Mathys Tel set up Harry Kane for what proved Bayern's consolation in the 87th.

FLYING IN FRANKFURT

Frankfurt's game had barely started when fans threw confectionery on the field to force a stoppage.

There was another hold-up after the break when at least two small airplanes were flown onto the field and more confectionery was thrown from behind one of the goals.

“No to investors in the DFL!” read a huge banner behind the goal.

Frankfurt forward Saša Kalajdžić had to go off early with an apparent knee injury sustained off-the-ball after the first interruption. He reappeared later on crutches.

Egypt forward Omar Marmoush scored one goal then twice set up substitute Ansgar Knauff for Frankfurt, but Michael Gregoritsch scored Freiburg's third goal in the 89th. Gregoritsch also had an effort cleared off the line as both teams went for the win in a frenetic finale.

PROTESTS SPREAD

There were also protests in the second division earlier, with Nuremberg fans interrupting their team’s game against Kaiserslautern by entering the inner stadium area to show banners denouncing the proposed deal directly behind one of the goals. The match resumed after several minutes when they were convinced to return to their places.

Friday and Saturday's games were also plagued by protests, which followed disruptions to the previous weekend's matches across the first and second divisions.

Remote-controlled vehicles carrying smoke bombs were used to disrupt a game Saturday.

Many fans want the DFL's proposed deal scrapped entirely as they are worried about the influence any investor could have on the league. As a first step, many are calling for the December vote that narrowly approved the deal to be re-run, this time with club executives voting publicly.

Guadiola Welcomes Boston Celtics Head Coach Mazzulla

18 February 0

One of the NBA’s finest head coaches was a guest at the City Football Academy today.

Joe Mazzulla is in the charge of the world-renowned Boston Celtics, who have won a remarkable 17 NBA Finals, the joint most alongside the Los Angeles Lakers.

City fan Mazzulla has enjoyed a weekend in Manchester to watch the Treble winners both play and train.

After attending the Chelsea game, today he met up with fellow coach Pep Guardiola as the pair exchanged jerseys.

Mazzulla also watched on as the team started their preparations for the next Premier League clash, with Brentford, chatting to the players before and after the session.

This season, under Mazzulla, the Celtics top the Eastern Conference and the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division and boast the No.1 record overall for defence and offense in the NBA.

And Mazzulla himself reached an impressive milestone this past Wednesday - in just his second year with the Celtics – earning his 100th win after Boston’s 136-86 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.

The 35-year-old now boasts a 100-37 overall record, a mark that currently puts him at the top of the NBA record books for winning percentage - .730 - for coaches with 100 wins.

It was the team’s fifth 50-point win in their history – and their second this season under Mazzulla - who has his team off to the best start since 2008 at 43-12.

He was here in the UK for a whistle-stop tour due to a break in his NBA schedule because of the All-Star weekend.

It was wonderful to have him with us - and we wish him the best of luck for the rest of the NBA season.
